"A helicopter of Kestrel Aviation co coming from Sirsi helipad to Sh Kedarnath Dham carrying 6 passengers along with a pilot had to make an emergency landing approx 100 metres before the helipad of Sh Kedarnath Dham at around 7.05 hrs due to some technical problem," Rudraprayag, the district disaster management officer, stated.

Three of the four shrines—Gangotri, Yamunotri, and Kedarnath—opened for business on May 10 of this year, marking the start of the Char Dham Yatra. On May 12, Badrinath's doors opened.

In Hinduism, the Char Dham Yatra has great spiritual importance. Usually, this trip takes place in April–May and October–November.

The Char Dham Yatra is thought to be completed in a clockwise manner.

Thus, the pilgrimage begins in Yamunotri, continues to Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath before ending there.

The Uttarakhand government has made registration required for all pilgrims traveling on the Chardham Yatra due to the massive surge of people.

Now that offline registration for the Chardham Yatra has been discontinued in Haridwar and Rishikesh, pilgrims may only attend after completing an online registration.
